Kassen, the eldest son to spring from Lord Star’s loins, is the god of justice, light, knowledge, and vision, and is the lord of the gods of Nalliana. He appears to be a tall, regal man in fine clothes with the head of a fierce bald eagle. Kassen, to whom is given the title of the Highest Judge, is the most widely-worshipped god in the region, and has a special hand in prophecy and divination. The sun is his far-seeing eye in the sky, through which shines his radiance. He observes all mortal life so that when Jhal bears them to his Chamber of Judgment after their death, he can judge their life fairly. After he became king of the gods, he married his sister Annura and from him she bore their children Dannas, Nathu, and Ciral. In myths, Kassen’s role is as a judge and father figure in disputes between gods, not often taking up arms as Surin, Ilmys, Jhal frequently do and even his son Ciral occasionally does, although he did hurl the golden spear that blinded the searing eye of Ruiloth’s son Craynon. Kassen’s priests are the most influential in all of Nalliana, and of all the gods of the region, his is the faith most likely to have temples in other parts of the world. It was said that Kassen used to give his personal endorsement to the rulers of the great Xamoti Empire when Nalliana was the center of it. He is worshipped by a wide range of the devoted, but number-counters (the fortune tellers of the region) pay him special heed, as do rulers, judges, scholars, and those seeking wisdom. His clerics prepare their spells at dawn.
